Ideologies, Conspiracy Beliefs, and the Chinese Public’s Politicized Attitudes to Climate Change

While ideologies consistently influence public opinions on climate change in Western democracies, whether they affect the Chinese public’s attitudes is unknown. By applying a well-established measure of ideology, this study conducted nationwide survey (n = 1469) relationships between and ideologies, conspiracy beliefs, science literacy. It first to empirically investigate impact ideological tendencies, conspiratorial thinking shaping people’s attitudes. Among series novel findings, ideology was found be crucial factor toward change, economic particular, most strongly related attitude. Moreover, somewhat counterintuitively, we positive link respondents’ their awareness, as well failure moderation role literacy factors that All these findings suggest mechanism behind perception primarily working individual–state relationship.
